BLUES IN A BOX is a three CD box-set. Discs 1 and 2 contain tracks from 1959 to 1969 and from 1984 to 1985. Disc 3 is a bonus live disc that contains previously unreleased tracks. Personnel includes: Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer. Uneven sound quality aside there's no denying the historical interest of these recordings. Disc One is a motherlode of rare studio and live recordings from 1959 to 1969, when Johnny Winter made the progression from a pale 16-year-old kid from Beaumont, Texas, to one of the rising stars of the American blues-rock scene. Ranging from his rockabilly-style early years to the rise of the blues-rock power trio Winter, these tracks are utterly fascinating for the hardcore Johnny Winter fan.
